News and Things

I will also keep you up to date on the acoustic guitar I am building with recent photo's and the process in of its self. Let me regress a moment on this project I took on several months ago.

I was fortunate enough to meet a part time guitar builder, not a luthier, who takes on a couple of students once a year to build an acoustic guitar. So myself and another student signed up. The instructor and his buddy, who has a few years of guitar building experience himself, have been more that patient in spending six to eight hours per week outside of their full time careers in helping us through the entire process. From the purchasing of the wood for the top, back and sides to all of the other "ingredients" used to build a guitar. My instructors are both teacher and consultant in this process. I did plenty of homework on the web and trade magazines to get a feel of how the step-by-step process may go but I failed to recognize the human touch involved.

If you ever have the opportunity to build your own guitar take advantage of it! Not only do you learn a skill that few people possess but you develop a greater appreciation for the guitar.
